edition one poems

Architrave was conceived so non-poets might stumble upon their own, previously unknown, taste for poetry. The poems in this edition therefore cover a wide range, from the freest of free verse to the most prescriptive of forms, from everyday settings to archetypal language. There is sonic play and clever lineation. There is longing, angst and joy. There are poets winking at their readers, poets confronting illness, and even one with a blasphemous suggestion. There is also an eleventh poem, just because our enthusiasm refused to be contained. Each is numbered according to how the editor would collect them, but you're free to arrange your own order. We hope you find something here to enjoy, and if not, don't give up on poetry (or us). Edition 2 is due out in the spring.

You might wonder why, if we're trying to sell poems, we show the full text on our website. It's because we want our poets to have as much exposure for their work as possible. There are only 250 prints made of each poem; ideally they'll go to people who will appreciate the object as well as the text. Enjoy~
